At Elementz, we’re constantly evolving to support our clients with smarter, faster subsea asset integrity solutions. As part of this growth, our Customer Operations team is expanding, and we’re excited to welcome Aida Ovalle on board as an Associate Customer Operations Engineer. With her unique blend of technical expertise and people-focused skills, Aida will play a key role in helping our clients get the most out of our Integrity Elementz software.
Can you tell us a bit about your career background and what led you into customer operations?
I studied at Robert Gordon University for 5 years and I recently graduated with a master’s degree in Computing Science. In my 4th year, I had the opportunity to do a year-long placement, which gave me an insight into the energy and renewables sector, where I was able to further develop my computing skills. After that, I worked at a summer camp in Canada where I discovered my passion for working with people from all backgrounds. That’s when I knew that I wanted to do something that combined my technical background with closer human interaction, so when this opportunity arose, I was delighted!
What excites you most about joining Elementz, and where do you see yourself adding the greatest value for our clients?
I’m really happy to be joining such a great and supportive team, and I am very excited to help customers understand other aspects of subsea integrity processes. I have always been very curious, so I am keen on putting that skill into my work. I love investigating issues, testing functionalities, and understanding why something goes wrong in a system. I’m also fascinated by the opportunity to guide people in such an important and demanding industry, where it is crucial to pay attention to every tiny detail, so I will bring a very meticulous and thorough perspective to the team.
Are there any particular skills you’re keen to develop further?
I am looking forward to becoming proficient in SQL and gaining a deep understanding of all the processes involved in mobilisations, which I find very interesting. I also want to further develop my presentation skills so that, when leading training sessions or meeting with customers, I can communicate to the best of my ability.
When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing to switch off and recharge?
What don’t I do! I love filling my time with lots of fun activities that help me relax or give me adrenaline. I am my happiest when I’m out in nature: exploring the mountains, climbing, hiking or camping! I really enjoy doing all sorts of dancing, cooking for friends and listening to music. Also, I previously played in the Spanish National Women’s Ice Hockey League, and I’m hoping to start playing again here in Scotland!
